China Glaze Wish On a Starfish

Thursday, March 27, 2014

Morning, all! Wow I just had a helluva time posting this after trying to figure out Flickr's new interface. I have to say that, right now, I am not a fan. Hopefully I'll get used to it. So today I have a new spring polish for you. China Glaze Wish On a Starfish is from their recent Sea Goddess collection. Sea Goddess is a fun collection of textured polishes with a glitter finish. Wish On A Starfish was the one I was most excited about in the collection. I mean, look at that gold shimma! I was lucky to snag this during Sally Beauty's BOGO sale recently. As you can see below, the shimmer is very prominent and I love it. Pigmentation was good and I needed 2 coats for the swatches below.

I hate when shimmer in the bottle doesn't translate to the nail but luckily the shimmer in this shines through. I love how girly and glittery it is. I have a lot of textured polishes but none really like this.

Hope you guys liked this one. What other spring shades are on your must have list?

Stashed (16): butter LONDON

Sunday, March 23, 2014

Hello and happy Sunday, everyone. I've been having super chill weekend. I really love when I don't have much to do. Of course I should be getting stuff ready for next week's blog posting but oh well. Just a quick Stashed post today. I've been on a low-buy lately which has been going well. I think the key is really just not to go places where I know there will be pretty polishes to buy. But week Ulta was having a one day sale on some butter LONDON's and I had to pop in. I almost walked away with nothing but I've been wanting Trustafariain for a while now and decided to pick up Lady Muck with it. If you are looking for butter LONDON, they are also having a 50% sale on select polishes right now that ends later today. There are some nice polishes for sale, but I am resisting. :)

Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend. I am off to see Divergent later today. Have you guys seen it yet?

OPI Animal-istic

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Hello again. I hope you've all been having a fantastic week. The weather continues to be uncommonly warm where I am. On the one hand, I love the pretty sun but on the other, I really wish we had more seasons. I guess you can't have it all. :) Today I have OPI Animal-istic, which was released a couple of years ago as part of a Muppets collection. I didn't get this when it first came out because, while pretty, it did not look super original. But then I saw it and a bunch of other polishes for a steal on a blog sale, and I decided to throw it in with my order.

Animal-istic is a pretty, warm glass fleck red. I like glass flecks so this one was right up my alley. It's a little sheer, as I think you can see in my photos, but that's the nature of glass fleck and I was fine with it. If you want something more opaque you can do more coats. For my swatches, I did 2. Shown here with top coat.

I still don't think it's a super original color but it's fun and a nice addition to your collection if you don't have anything like it already.

Thanks for coming by today. :)

OPI White Gold Top Coat

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Hello and happy Tuesday! Did any of you L.A. readers feel the earthquake yesterday? It was a pretty substantial one. I was actually in the shower when it happened and my shower door was rattling pretty badly. It was fine though and pretty short, though it did make for an interesting morning on Facebook and Twitter.

So I know today is St. Patrick's Day but I do not have a green manicure for you. Nope, I am busting out something that has been in my drafts for a little while now. It's OPI White Gold Top Coat. This came out last winter as part of the Mariah Carey Holiday collection (I think). I wasn't initially interested in this but I found it after Christmas on clearance at Ulta so I said why not.

OPI White Gold Top Coat is a...white gold top coat. Haha. It has white gold flakes and is basically the silver version of last year's Man with the Golden Gun, also from OPI.  I wore it here over MAC Grey Friday, a gunmetal grey. I found the flake payoff to be pretty good though I did have to do a little bit of dabbing to get the gold where I wanted it to go. It wasn't too fiddly though and I used about 1.5 coats here.

This is a fun polish to have in my collection though I am really glad that I bought it on sale. What do you guys think of the gold flake trend? Love or leave it? Let me know in the comments below. Have a lovely week!

Zoya Odette

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Hi, guys, Just popping in for a quick post today. I have the day off of work today and I plan on just vegging out and catching up on my reading and sleep. :) Today I have Zoya Odette, a shade from their recent Naturals collection. I am a sucker for most purples and could not resist picking this one up. It's a dusty purple creme with a hint of pink. I love dusty shades and I can see this one being funky but also work appropriate.

Zoya Odette

Odette seemed a little watery on the first coat but evened out a lot after the second. Shown here over base coat with Zoya Armor top coat.

This is a really pretty shade and it wore for almost a whole week without any chips or much wear. I eventually took it off because I wanted to wear a new shade, but I feel like this would have work well for several more days. Not sure if it was the combo of the Zoya polish and Zoya top coat or just a fluke but it was pretty awesome.

I have a couple other polishes from this collection to try. Hoping all of them are as easy to apply and wear as this one. Happy hump day, all!

Stashed (15): Gwen Stefani for OPI

Sunday, March 9, 2014

Hi, everyone. Have you sprung forward yet? While I don't relish the idea of losing an hour, more daylight is definitely a bonus. So I did a tiny bit of stashing this week. I have been trying not to spend money on polish lately but I heard that the Gwen Stefani OPI polishes were on sake at Sally Beauty and they were. I only picked up the few that really interested me though the vampy burgundy is on my maybe next time list.

I really haven't bought much from any of the new spring collections this year. Part of it is because of money and the other part is because I just haven't had a ton of time to swatch lately. But I am happy to have these and hope to wear them soon.

Did you stash anything good this weekend? :)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Piu Mosso

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Hi, guys. Happy Fat Tuesday. My co-worker's wife made an awesome King Cake, which I am going to eat later this afternoon. I hope all you SoCal readers stayed dry last weekend when it was raining like crazy. Today I have another polish from, what I call, The Great RBL Haul of 2013. This is Rescue Beauty Loung Piu Mosso. Piu Mosso is an inky dark purple with copper shimmer. I had no issues with the formula and 2 coats is shown below with top coat.

Rescue Beauty Loung Piu Mosso

As you can see, I had a hard time getting the shimmer to show through. Even in bright light, it was hard to see. This was a little disappointing since the shimmer is sooo pretty and you can see it pretty well in the bottle.

Rescue Beauty Loung Piu Mosso

Please ignore this bubbling. Totally my fault for rushing this and not the polish's fault at all.

Rescue Beauty Loung Piu Mosso

This one is pretty but is not my favorite RBL ever. It is unique but I wish the shimmer was more apparent in person. Thanks for stopping by today!
