these are persimmons

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! As you can tell, it's been a bit quiet here lately. I am taking some time off to spend with my family. Just wanted to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for reading the blog. I appreciate each and every page view or comment that comes this way.

Have a beautiful day!

Stashed (10): GAP, Revlon, Sinful Colors

Sunday, November 24, 2013

Hi, guys! Happy Sunday! The weather is super beautiful and fall-like where I am and I am enjoying every second of it. I am on vacation right now and haven't had any time to paint my nails. I also broke a nail yesterday, which never happens because they are so short. But somehow I did it and had to file my nail down to a super short length.

I have only a small haul post for you today. Picked up a couple of GAP polishes (I know the blue is called Bright Sea but can't remember the other). Walgreens was also have a 40% sale on all Revlon products and I finally picked up Vixen, which has been on my wish list for ages. Last but not least, I picked up a dark green whose name I am not remembering from Sinful Colors.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend!

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Demure

Friday, November 22, 2013

Happy Friday, everyone! I am still on vacation right now. I love doing nothing. :) Today I have something a bit different - a makeup review. Thanks for Nouveau Cheap I found out about a great deal that Walgreens is having on the Revlon Colorburst Balms this week. I love the ones I already have and figured it would be a good chance to pick up some of the new glossy and matte shades. The first one I picked up was Demure, which is from the Lacquer Balm (glossy) line.

Demure is a cool toned light pink with silver shimmer/glitter running throughout. I was hoping for more of a pinky brown nude but this is definitely more pink. As you can see below, it's pretty sheer. I have pretty light pigmentation on my lips so you could still see it, but not that well. I imagine that ladies with darker lips will have a harder time getting it to show up.

You can't see it very well on my arm (like I said, it's sheer) but you can definitely see the silver glitter. I wasn't the biggest fan of the glitter because, without much color, it just looked like my lips were super sparkly. This one also didn't wear very long on me. I didn't time it but I only got a couple of hours out of it, max, whereas some of my other Balms last for much longer. It has the normal mint flavor of the other Balms, which I really like.

While I was a little disappointed in this, I think it could work depending on your skin tone and what you're looking for. If you want a sheer wash of color with some sparkle, this might be the perfect shade for you.

I have one more of the glossy sticks to try out. It's a super bright pink from the looks of the packaging. I am hoping that one has a better color payoff. Have you picked up any of the new Colorburst Balms? What's your favorite shade? Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Zoya Payton

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Happy hump day! I am on vacation right now so I guess there's no real hump for me to get over but still. I have been hanging out with my niece a lot and have been trying to get some holiday shopping out of the way. I have bought a little bit of nail polish but not a ton. But I haven't visited the local beauty supply store yet. no doubt I will pick up some things when I finally make a trip out there.

Today I have a beautiful polish from Zoya's Zenith collection. Payton is a deep cranberry with tons of scattered holo glitter. The finish on Payton is a lot like the scattered holos that Zoya put out last year. If you liked those, you'll probably like Payton. No problems with the formula. I used 2 coats below with one coat of Poshe on top. All photos taken outside in sunlight.

Though not quite as sparkly as my beloved Aurora, I still really like Payton. It's a fun shade for a scattered holo and very appropriate for fall.

Did you get anything from the Zenith collection? Yay or nay on the scattered holo?

Zoya Posh

Monday, November 18, 2013

Hi, everyone! If you didn't know, Zoya is bringing back some of their Matte Velvet polishes. With texture being the trend right now, it's refreshing to see something a little different. Zoya was one of the first brands that I knew who really embraced that matte trend. They came out with 4 gorgeous shades (and I think 3 summer shades) all with their Matte Velvet finish. And right now, you can pre-order the original shades at a great price. I thought I had them all but I could not find Dovima for the life of me and may just have to order it. Let's take a look at the polish, shall we? All photos below taking outside in sunlight.

Zoya Matte Velvet Posh

Posh is a pink leaning red. When Zoya says Matte Velvet, they really mean it. This isn't your traditional matte polish and it definitely has a sort of lit from within shimmer that gives the polish a very soft, velvet-y appearance. It's weird because it's matte but it's also not really. I love how it just glows.

If I recall correcly this is supposed to be worn without base or top coat but I did use base coat. This did not affect application at all and it took just 2 buttery coats.

This is a seriously beautiful polish, people. After putting it on, I thought to myself " Why don't I wear this more often?" No real answer to that but I am definitely going to start wearing these more because they are awesome. I am going to try to swatch the other Matte Velvets soon. If they are all as lovely as this then I may need to get back ups.

Anyone else in love with these? If you don't have them, are you planning to get them? Thank you for coming by today. Have a good week!

Maybelline Emerald Elegance

Friday, November 15, 2013

Happy Friday, everyone. This has certainly been quite a week and I am glad that the weekend is finally here. I am going on vacation tomorrow and am looking forward to just chilling out. I am just visiting my parents so I will be driving. I had the hardest time trying to figure out what nail polish supplies to take. I don't want to take a lot but then I do want to take advantage of being on vacation to get some swatching in. I'll probably go polish shopping while I am there, too. :)

Today I have another polish from the Maybelline Brocades collection. I love this collection so much! Emerald Elegance is a gorgeous, deep yellow-toned green with tons of green hex glitter. I love the richness of the base color and I really like how the glitter lays. It reminds me of fish scales. Below is two easy coats with Poshe top coat. All of these swatches were taken outside in the shade except for the last picture which was taken in the sun.

Isn't this shade gorgeous? I love how the gold glitter peeks out to create a really rich base color. I am still missing 3-4 polishes from this collection though I have all of my favorites. I am keeping a lookout for the displays though because I will totally buy the others if I see them. :)

Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday. Do you guys know about the Rescue Beauty Lounge sale this coming Sunday? 5 hours only and RBL polishes (with exclusions) will be 50% off. I totally have my cart ready. Have a good weekend, everyone1

JulieG Sugar Plum Fairy + Sleigh Ride

Monday, November 11, 2013

Hi, everyone! I hope your week is off to a good start so far. I had a pretty nice, relaxing weekend. I brought some work home with me but I never mustered enough motivation to actually do it. :( Today I have a couple of polishes from the new JulieG winter Gumdrops collection. I really loved their first texture collection and was excited to finally find these in store recently.

JulieG Sugar Plum Fairy + Sleigh Ride

Sugar Plum Fairy is a dark purple with blue undertones.  This one is lovely and full of gorgeous silver glitter. Both of these was extremely pigmented and I only needed 2 coats of each.

Sleigh Ride is a pretty teal blue. Same type of texture and finish as Sugar Plum Fairy. This one did stain my nails when I took it off, even with base coat. I find that all of my blue textured polishes stain so I wasn't surprised that this did as well.

I did have a small issue with wear with these two. I remember the last Gumdrops collection wearing really well. However, this manicure smeared when I stuck my hand in my purse even though I had given it at least a half hour to dry. I did use base coat so not sure if that affected it but I still think it should have been dry by then. They also started chipping fairly quickly after a day or two, which was disappointing.

Overall, I still really like these. I'd probably just be more careful the next time I wear them and give them a good, long time to dry before I do anything too rough with my hands. I wanted this whole collection but only bought 3 of them. Hoping I find the collection again soon when there's a sale so I can pick up the rest. Have a great week!

Stashed (9): JulieG, Maybelline

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Hi, guys! Is everyone having a good weekend? I had a really busy Saturday. Spent most of the morning seeing cool things at Designer Con and then went to see Thor 2. Thor 2 was a really fun movie - perfect popcorn entertainment. Loki has become my favorite character and I am starting to see why everyone is so crazy about Tom Hiddelston.

I've been totally lax on my Stashed posts lately and haven't been keeping very good track of what I have bought. I only found one picture of my current purchases so that's what you are getting today.

I picked up 3 polishes from the new JulieG Gumdrops line. I really wanted to get all of them but I tried to refrain. Also bought polishes from the Maybelline Brocades collection. This only shows the green polish I bought but I have picked up 3 more since then (they are awesome).

Haven't had much time to paint my nails lately and I am going on vacation in about a week, but I will try to schedule some posts before I leave. Am also trying to figure out what kind of polish supplies to pack since I will be away for a while. Does anyone else have this dilemma when packing for a trip?  Haha - polish addict problems. :)

Happy Sunday!

Maybelline Crushed Crimson

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Hi, guys. Hope everyone had a good weekend and is having a good week. No idea how it got to be Wednesday already. Sorry things have been a bit quiet around here. My life's been a little crazy and it's going to be that way for most of this month. So please bear with me if things are a little inconsistent around here in the next few weeks.

Today I have a really gorgeous polish an one of my favorite of 2013. This is Crushed Crimson from the LE Maybelline Brocades collection. Every polish in this collection is super gorgeous and I need them all. I think I have 4 or 5 right now but I want to get rest. Crushed Crimson is a really rich burgundy red with gold shimmer and is filled with red and gold hex glitter. This polish was really pigmented and I only needed 2 coats to get an opaque finish. I did use top coat to get a smooth finish on this but it wasn't super gritty. All of these photos were taken outside on a cloudy day.

Brocades is a really great title for this collection because it makes me think of rich, opulent fabrics and the color combos and awesome glitter in these polishes really goes with that them. I love the complexity of this polish. I loved wearing it and it just looked so lovely and perfect for fall. If this polish is any indication of what the rest of the collection is like, then I am going to love them all.

If it's not clear yet, I love this polish. If you like glitter and intense jewel tones, then you should definitely try to find this collection while it's still available. Thanks for stopping by today!

Halloween Week: Holographic Spiderwebs

Saturday, November 2, 2013

Hello and happy Friday! I hiope you all had a really wonderful Halloween. We did a bit of trick or treating with my friends' kid and hung out and watched Its The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. All in all, a very fun night. I have another Halloween themed manicure to show you today. This one has some spiderwebs and a haunted house.

I was still wearing Wet N Wild Disturbia and decided to spice it up with some spooky stamping. I can't remember which plate I used right now since I don't have my notes with me but these all came from the same plate. I will update later when I get home with the specific plate.

I stamped using Color Club Harp On It, a lovely silver holo that I picked up recently. I love using holos for stamping and this one works really well.

As you can see, my stamping isn't perfect, but I am OK with that. I decided to do a haunted house as my accent nail. It's a little crooked but I still like it.

Random note - I never know how to hold my hand if I don't have the bottle in it. Some people do awesome no bottle poses but my hands always look weird. Anyway....that's all I have for today. I think I have one more Halloween look for you that will be coming soon. Happy Halloween week!
