OPI Animal-istic

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Hello again. I hope you've all been having a fantastic week. The weather continues to be uncommonly warm where I am. On the one hand, I love the pretty sun but on the other, I really wish we had more seasons. I guess you can't have it all. :) Today I have OPI Animal-istic, which was released a couple of years ago as part of a Muppets collection. I didn't get this when it first came out because, while pretty, it did not look super original. But then I saw it and a bunch of other polishes for a steal on a blog sale, and I decided to throw it in with my order.

Animal-istic is a pretty, warm glass fleck red. I like glass flecks so this one was right up my alley. It's a little sheer, as I think you can see in my photos, but that's the nature of glass fleck and I was fine with it. If you want something more opaque you can do more coats. For my swatches, I did 2. Shown here with top coat.

I still don't think it's a super original color but it's fun and a nice addition to your collection if you don't have anything like it already.

Thanks for coming by today. :)

OPI Animalistic

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Hello there! I hope you guys all had a fun weekend. I didn't really do anything too exciting, but it was nice to have some downtime. Today's polish is OPI Animalistic. This came out a year or two ago and was a part of their Muppets collaboration. I have a soft spot for the Muppets and we even named my childhood dog Gonzo. :) I wasn't really interested in this one until I spotted it on a blog sale for $1. I mean, how can I pass up OPI for $1?

OPI Animalistic

Animalistic is a bright red that leans a little orange with a great glass fleck finish. China Glaze does this finish really well and this one was no exception. I used two coats below without top coat. As you can see, it's still a bit squishy looking, but that's the beauty of a glass fleck glitter.

I don't think this is the most original color in my collection but I still like it because of the Muppets connection and it's pretty. No real issues with the formula. If you don't already have a color like this, it might be worth a second look.

Speaking of The Muppets, is anyone else excited about the new Muppets movie? I already have a date with a friend lined up to see it. :)

Cover Girl Black Heat

Friday, October 11, 2013

Hello! Last week I found a full display of the new Cover Girl Catching Fire Collection at my local CVS. They were also having a BOGO50 sale so you know I bought all 9 of the polishes.  This is my first time trying the new Cover Girl Glosstinis and I have to say that I like them. The bottles are tiny but the price point isn't bad, especially when there is a sale.

The first polish I tried out was Black Heat, a murky black with strong green undertones. The finish on this is a foil/glass fleck with tons of green and gold glitter. I found the pigmentation to be good and only needed 2 coats below, no top coat.

Oooh look at all those beautiful glittery bits.

I am a fan of foils and glass flecks so this polish was right up my alley. I like how the green and gold really came out in the sun and it had a lot of depth. If you like this finish or dark, olive-y shades then definitely give this one a try.

I hope to try out the other polishes in this collection soon. If they are all like this one, I think I am going to really like them. Is anyone else excited about the Catching Fire movie? To tell the truth it was my least favorite book in the series but the trailer looks good so I am sure I will see. Thanks for stopping in and have a great weekend!
