Orly Pink Your World

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Hi, everyone. Happy hump day! Hope you're all having a good week. I can't believe that it's June already. This year is seriously flying by! Today I have a polish that I picked up from Marshalls recently. This is Orly Pink Your World, which is a light pink glitter with gunmetal grey shard glitter in a clear base.

Orly Pink Your World

I was really excited to find this one. It looked really cool in the bottle and the shard glitter made it really unique. Unfortunately this was way cooler in the bottle than on the nail. The glitter payoff wasn't great and it took my 4 coats just to get it to look mildly OK in these swatches. The cool shard glitter was really hard to get but you can see that I did manage to get a few pieces on my nails.

This may look better over a colored base but, after 4 coats I really didn't feel like working with this one again.

I am kind of bummed that this one didn't turn out like I wanted it to, but it's definitely a unique polish. If you don't mind doing a little work, it might be fun over another color. Personally though this is probably going into the giveaway pile.

Anyone here a fan of sheer glitter toppers? I'd be interested in hearing what you think of this one. Thanks for stopping by today!

OPI White Gold Top Coat

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Hello and happy Tuesday! Did any of you L.A. readers feel the earthquake yesterday? It was a pretty substantial one. I was actually in the shower when it happened and my shower door was rattling pretty badly. It was fine though and pretty short, though it did make for an interesting morning on Facebook and Twitter.

So I know today is St. Patrick's Day but I do not have a green manicure for you. Nope, I am busting out something that has been in my drafts for a little while now. It's OPI White Gold Top Coat. This came out last winter as part of the Mariah Carey Holiday collection (I think). I wasn't initially interested in this but I found it after Christmas on clearance at Ulta so I said why not.

OPI White Gold Top Coat is a...white gold top coat. Haha. It has white gold flakes and is basically the silver version of last year's Man with the Golden Gun, also from OPI.  I wore it here over MAC Grey Friday, a gunmetal grey. I found the flake payoff to be pretty good though I did have to do a little bit of dabbing to get the gold where I wanted it to go. It wasn't too fiddly though and I used about 1.5 coats here.

This is a fun polish to have in my collection though I am really glad that I bought it on sale. What do you guys think of the gold flake trend? Love or leave it? Let me know in the comments below. Have a lovely week!

Halloween Week: China Glaze Boog-ie Down

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Hi, guys. It's Wednesday which means it's only one more day til Halloween! Are you guys all set for the Halloween festivities? I don't really have a costume this year but I plan on going out with some friends and checking out the neighborhood decorations. I love seeing the kids out and about in costume, too. It's just so cute! Anyway, Halloween week continues with a fun glitter topper from the China Glaze Monster's Ball collection. I knew I wanted this one when I saw it because it just screams Halloween to me. Boo-gie Down is filled with small and large hex glitter in white, orange and black in a clear base. There's also some bar glitter in there as well as regular glitter.

This is a really fun mix of glitters. The formula was quite nice on this and this is just 1 coat over Color Club Silver Lake. I did not have to do any fishing, though I did move some of the bigger pieces around my nail with the brush just to get optimal placement. You don't have to if you don't want to and there is plenty of glitter to go around. It wasn't super gritty either and I think I only used 1 coat of Poshe over this manicure.

If you like glitter, this is a really fun polish to have. I like that the orange is sort of a rust orange instead of the normal jack 'o' lantern shade. Signing out for today. Happy hump day, everyone!
